PROJECT SUMMARY: Produce a book that specifically
- help students to consolidate their knowledge about the food processing objectives, benefits and procedures. Give those students; 
- introduce students to recipes that are cooked in Cabo Delgado, including information on its nutritional characteristics. 
- promote young people and students awareness on food waste and losses and provide them the knowledge that will allow them to contribute to increase food sustainability. 

- Leverage young people knowledge about the coffee culture in the context of the Province and country economies.   

PROJECT SUMMARY: Most specialised nutritious foods are produced commercially by a few companies at central locations and distributed worldwide (Black et al., 2016). The scarcity of specialised nutritious foods in contexts where its use is required and already implemented threatens the continuity of programs, with consequent negative results for the children covered by those programs. Logistic difficulties, including supply disruption due to local, regional, or global events that cause border closures or movement restrictions, reduced production capacity, poor stock management, or food safety and quality issues, can all contribute to these situations (Global Nutrition Cluster, 2022).

Specialised nutritious foods often represent a very high cost to food assistance programs. The decentralisation of production to the local level, in addition to reducing the risks of shortages due to mentioned reasons can present several advantages, including local economic opportunities (Black et al, 2016). However, food-based alternative formulations developed to increase treatment coverage and reduce costs cannot be seen as simple adaptations or modifications of the formulation of industrially produced specialised nutritious foods. Important dietary and nutritional considerations should be considered, and the current protocols must be adapted (WHO, 2019). In addition, issues of food safety, food availability, and food processing, among others, must be considered. 
In the referred context, this project aims at giving technical and scientific support to develop and prepare a research study to generate evidence on alternatives for acute moderate malnutrition treatment based on locally available foods and products.

PROJECT SUMMARY: Technoserve, a Non-Governmental Organization operating in 29 countries, is implementing the program Catalisa, in the Province of Cabo Delgado, together with Government, private sector, and community partners, and promoted by Total Energies. The goal of Catalisa is to support the growth of the Province economy based on private sector sustainable development. Within the scope of the program, Technoserve provided technical assistance to Baía Agronegócio, a commercial partner that is investing in the implementation of an integrated poultry project that includes a breeder farm, an hatchery  and a slaughterhouse. 
The consultancy provided by the project team consisted on assessing  management practices for currently active operations,  identifying and proposing relevant improvements and developing a manual of good manufacturing practices for the slaughterhouse, hatchery, and breeder farm.
